Apple will not launch FaceTime group calls with iOS 12 and macOS Mojave any time soon.
This is according to a report by Engadget. The report stated that Apple didn’t explain why it was cutting the feature, but it has been working in previous betas.
When Apple unveiled iOS 12, it punted FaceTime group calls as one of the new features – with calls supporting up to 32 simultaneous users.
This included a new dynamic user interface which shows all callers in a group FaceTime video call as tiles, which adjust in size and position depending on who is talking.
The feature was set to make its way to macOS Mojave, too.
This new feature will be going head-to-head with a bunch of group video chat apps, the most prominent of which is probably Houseparty that is available on iOS and Android. This app launched back in 2016.
Recently, WhatsApp also added a group calling feature but it can only have 4 users at a time.
