In the interest of enabling African startups to access funding, this week AfricArena will be hosting the Southern Africa Summit from 22 – 23 March 2022 in Johannesburg South Africa, with the support of the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA). 20 Startups from Southern Africa, from Madagascar to Namibia, will be on showcase. This 2-day Summit event will follow the same format as their predecessors from previous years with an AfricArise Bootcamp bringing startups a powerful readiness and networking tool as they make their way up the summit.
Zach George and Clive Butkow will be amongst a group of speakers who will be addressing venture capitalists and startups in attendance.
This event is part of a broader Africarena tour to search, find and support the best startups on the continent. In addition to this programme, Africarena will also work towards the launch of its new annual fundraising and Scale-up program which aims to rapidly accelerate the growth of African tech startups through an established Pan African startup investor network platform that connects startups and investors.
Amongst the startups that will be pitching is Kweza, a last-mile distribution solution entity tailored to the informal market. Another notable startup is Deaftouch a startup that uses technology to create platforms for diversity and inclusion.
Since its inception in 2017, AfricArena has been a platform dedicated to supporting the creation of market access and investment opportunities for its ever-increasing community of founders, angels, corporates, and VC investors.
Designed with a digital approach in mind, AfricArena consists of a series of investment deal flow events and interventions and an open-source platform for all stakeholders, all based on principles of open innovation and entrepreneurship.
The AfricArena brand has rapidly gained enormous credibility in the tech startup ecosystem with alumni startups like Ozow, Aerobotics having raised over $250million in the past 4 years.
This year, AfricArena will again host its sixth annual Grand Summit in Cape Town from the 9th – 10th of November 2022. The Grand Summit will be preceded by 2 events, the Founders Bootcamp and the VC Unconference Weekend.
The AfricArena Summit events are broken into 3 segments as follows:
Investor Unconference, Founders BootCamp, and the main Summit Event.
The summits provide open innovation challenges, research, and deal-flow services to help accelerate the work of founders and investors.
Today the Summit hosted the Founders Bootcamp with Clive Butkow from Kalon Venture Partners who shared insights with founders from an investor’s point of view.
